GENERAL MANAGER


 

VINNY BOHN

Vinny Bohn is a hockey coach and player development leader. He holds excellent experience in recruiting, mentorship, and athlete advancement.

He played junior hockey for the Green Mountain Glades, Granite City Lumberjacks, and El Paso Rhinos. After junior hockey, Bohn served as an assistant captain at NCAA Division III school, Worcester State University.

Following his playing career, Bohn transitioned into coaching and hockey operations. He found work across youth AAA, junior hockey, NCAA Division III, the USHL, NAHL, and NA3HL. He has worked with organizations including:

The Atlanta Capitals, Topeka RoadRunners, Marian University, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, El Paso Rhinos, and New Mexico Ice Wolves.

Bohn has helped many players advance to junior, collegiate, and professional opportunities. In 2025, he took a positon as Head Coach of the Nashville Jr. Predators 18U AAA team and joined TPH Academy Nashville.

ASSISTANT COACH


 

PETER DI SALVO

Before joining the Steel, Peter enjoyed a successful nine-season professional career as a goaltender in the SPHL. From 2021–2025, he held the league record for most career wins (111), captured a Presidents Cup championship with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, and earned multiple All-Star selections.

Before turning pro, Peter spent five seasons in the OHL with Sarnia, Barrie, and Oshawa, and attended the St. Louis Blues Rookie Camp twice. He developed under renowned goalie coaches Piero Greco and Franky Palazzese, and now runs the Peter Di Salvo Goaltending School out of Chippewa Falls.


EQUIPMENT MANAGER


 

DEREK STRONG

Derek Strong enters his 2nd season as Equipment Manager with the Chippewa Steel. He has established himself as a dependable and detail-driven presence within the organization.

Strong manages gear maintenance, skate sharpening, repairs, laundry, and locker room setup. He is also heavily involved in game preparation, travel coordination, and inventory management. Strong works with players and staff to create an efficient, performance-focused environment.

Before joining the Steel full-time, Strong worked with the Carolina Rage, where he developed his foundation in equipment management.

Strong’s previous experience as a goaltender at the junior hockey level provides a player’s perspective. He brings a motivated approach to his work with an interest in equipment and performance optimization. Strong is reliable and forward-thinking with long-term potential in the profession.

BROADCASTER


 

SCOTT MONTESANO

Scott, owner of Eau Claire Hometown Media, serves as the team’s play-by-play announcer. He holds over 20 years of broadcasting and sports marketing experience. His extensive background includes the North American and United States Hockey Leagues.

Scott also maintains an active voice with various minor league baseball teams. These teams are based in Maine, Vermont, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

In the past, Scott has been the voice of the Eau Claire Express, UW-Eau Claire Athletics, and many high school contests.

A Utica, NY native and Marist College alum, Scott resides in Eau Claire with his wife Angela and children Alexia and Derek.
