Steel Tender Ukrainian Born Mykhailo Danylov

Jun 14, 2022

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI – The Chippewa Steel are proud to announce they have tendered Ukrainian born forward Mykhailo Danylov.

Danylov (17) is a small, agile forward with offensive upside. At 5’8″ and 146 pounds, Danylov adds an element of elusiveness. He was born in the nation’s capital Kyiv but has played most of his youth hockey in the United States with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes.

“I like playing [in the U.S.] better because here it is really fast hockey and that is what I need,” Danylov said courtesy of Youth Hockey Hub.

This season was without a doubt his breakout campaign. After scoring a combined 18 points in 48 games between 2018-2021, this season he was a point-per-game player with 26 points in 17 games. It was good enough the lead the Coyotes U18 AAA by 11 points.

“Misha a special young man,” Steel head coach Casey Mignone said. “He is committed to doing everything the right way. He already handles himself like a professional on and off the ice. He is a highly skilled offensive player, with a great hockey IQ, and a relentless motor.”

In addition, his shot is sneaky good and can surprise goaltenders who aren’t square. If Danylov continues to develop, he can be a threat to score each time he hits the ice.

A tender is a contract, of sorts. A player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.

The Steel are excited to bring him to Chippewa Valley and wish him congratulations!
