Steel take on Rival Windigo Thursday Night

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI – The Chippewa Steel (23-23-5) kept their playoff hopes alive with a split over Janesville capped off by an overtime winner from Joe Kelly on Saturday night. With nine games remaining the deficit remains the same, the Steel trail the final playoff spot by five points. Thursday’s night tilt not only comes against in state rival the Wisconsin Windigo (32-12-6), but the 1st place team in the Midwest Division in which the result could be the difference in making the postseason or not. 

TICKET/GAME INFORMATION

Tomorrows game on Thursday, March 7th, will take place at the Chippewa Area Ice Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM CT. Tomorrows theme night is a Green out, come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early by wearing Green and help cheer on the Steel to a victory! Skate with the Steel after tomorrows game has been cancelled and rescheduled for March 30th, on Fan Appreciation Night. 

KELLY GREEN

Joe Kelly is in his 3rd season with the Steel and his 15th goal of the season in overtime could arguably be his biggest depending on what transpires in the last month of the season. Kelly has broke career highs in assists and points this season, his next goal will break a previous high set two seasons ago. Kelly is the All-Time Franchise Leader in games played with 166, he’s 3rd on the team with 31 this season and will play a huge factor in the final nine games of the season.

WISH UPON WISHART

Carter Wishart had a massive weekend in the net for the Steel versus the Jets. He was summoned off the bench on Friday night after the Jets scored four times in the first period. Wishart went on to make 19 saves in the game and surrender a lone goal. On Saturday, he picked up the win after an impressive 27 save performance against one of the best offenses in the entire NAHL. Wishart is making a strong case to start the majority of games down the stretch with his solid play.
