Chippewa Steel’s vice president of operations Bryant Black and head coach and general manager Al Rooney have announced the addition of assistant coach Carter Foguth for the 2018-19 season.

Foguth joins the Steel after spending four years with the Minnesota State University, Mankato Mavericks Division I hockey team where he played in 144 games and served as the team’s alternate captain as a sophomore and the team’s captain during his junior and senior seasons. “We received numerous inquiries and did our proper due diligence and we just kept coming back to Carter,” said head coach Rooney. “I’m very enthusiastic about bringing him on board and believe he is going to be a great fit to work alongside me in accomplishing our goals on and off the ice.”

With the last few years of Foguth’s hockey career being spent in Mankato, assistant coach of the Mavericks Darren Blue said the following, “It’s exciting to see good people like Carter get into the coaching profession. His knowledge of the game, work ethic and leadership skills were very appreciated during his time as a player. I look forward to those same attributes fueling a successful career behind the bench as well.”

Foguth, a native of Ypsilanti, Michigan, is no stranger to the junior hockey landscape. He played 45 games in the NAHL during the 2009-10 season followed by over 150 games played in the USHL where he spent his last season as captain for the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

When asked about the position, Foguth stated, “I am excited to be named the Chippewa Steel assistant coach and thankful the head coach AL Rooney and the Black family for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to helping players develop on and off the ice, establishing a positive culture and being a part of Chippewa and the surrounding area’s community.”
