Weekend Preview: Chippewa Steel Resume Season

(Chippewa Falls, WI)- It has been 47 days since the Chippewa Steel played a hockey game. But tomorrow night they return to the ice for a three game weekend series, and the highly anticipated return to hockey for fans and players.

The last time the Steel played was at home on November 14th against the Kenai River Brown Bears where they would get their first win of the season. The Steel face the Minnesota Magicians on Thursday and Friday who will be competing in their first set of games on the season.

Last season the Steel finished 6-5-0 against the Magicians. Minnesota returns two of their top scorers from last season, Wausau, WI native Josh Bohlin and Robert Christy who combined for 31 goals. They also feature two rookie Division I commits, Lleyton Roed to Bemidji State University and Jack Cronin to Princeton University.

Saturday the Steel will once again battle the Kenai River Brown Bears in their fifth matchup of the season. The Steel look to improve to 2-3-0 in their ongoing series with Kenai River. A key focus for the Steel will be getting past Brown Bear goaltenders Luke Pavicich and Danny Fraga who combined stopped 140 of 155 shots in the last four matchups.

The puck drops on Thursday at 7:10 pm at the Chippewa Area Ice Arena to start the three-game series. Fans can enjoy $2 Miller Lite on Thursday night until 10 minutes remaining in the third period. Limited tickets are available at chippewasteelhockey.com.
