The Chippewa Steel of the NAHL have announced the signing of Lucas Sturm to a tender contract for 2019-2020 season. Lucas is a Forward with the Chicago Young Americans U18 team.
Sturm has played in 52 games in the 2018-2019 season scoring 14 goals, while recording 20 assists.
“Lucas is a fast skater with play making ability. We’re looking forward to having him be a part of the Steel Organization,”stated Steel Interim Head Coach Carter Foguth.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
The Steel return to Chippewa Area Ice Arena Friday, February 8th as they take on the Janesville Jets for $2 Beer Night presented by Miller Lite. Fans can get tickets online at chippewasteelhockey.com or by calling the Steel office at 715-861-2131.
