Steel Start Road Trip with Convincing 6-2 Win
The Steel showed no signs of jet lag on Friday night as they convincingly beat the Kenai River Brown Bears by the score of 6-2.
Geared by a hot start to the first period the Steel lit the lamp three times. Goals from Matt Clark, Killian Kiecker-Olson and Jacob Dirks had the Steel with the largest lead after one period they’ve had all season at 3-0.
The Browns Bears settled the tide in the second period with a pair of goals. Forward Zach Kranjnok of Kenai found the back of the net along with JJ Boucher to make the score 3-2 Steel after the 2nd period of play.
The Steel came out in the third period in lock down mode and held the Browns Bears off the scoreboard. Killian Kiecker-Olson had a pair of assists. One on a Matt Clark goal and the other on a Issac Moberg goal. Issac Moberg ending the scoring for the night with an emply-net goal.
Between the pipes for the second straight game was Igor Samokhvalov stopping 25 of 27 shots.
Steel will wrap up with weekend series against the Kenai River Brown Bears at 10:30 CST on Saturday.
The Steel will return to the Chippewa Area Ice Arena on Saturday, January 26th for a 7:10 puck drop. It’s 92.9 the X Night. Adult tickets will be 2 for 1 with a donation of a non-perishable food item to the Feed My People Food Bank.
