Steel Head to Alaska
Early on Wednesday morning, the Steel left for their trip to Alaska. This weekend the Steel will take on the Kenai River Brown Bears.
The Brown Bears lead the Midwest Division with a 5-3 record. The Steel follow ranked 5thin the Division. The Steel are 3-5 so far in the season.
Kenai has played all of their games so far on the road and will be taking on the Steel for their home opener. The Brown Bears swept the Janesville Jets in their first series of the season. They ended the NAHL Showcase with a record of 2-4, losing to the Aberdeen Wings and the Bismarck Bobcats. Zach Kranjnik of the Brown Bears leads the team with 9 points, 2 goals, and 7 assists. Although Kenai is leading the division so far this year, they did not make the playoffs last season.
After tough losses last weekend against the Jets, the Steel are in search of a win this weekend. The Steels’ top scorer is Camden Thiesing who leads with 6 points, 4 goals, and 2 assists. Jordan Gonzalez and Tomas Vochozka both follow with 5 points, 1 goal, and 4 assists each.
The Steel will take on the Brown Bears Friday and Saturday night. To finish out the trip to Alaska, they will head to Fairbanks to take on the Ice Dogs on Friday, October 12th and Saturday, October 13th.
